For most of us, the kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s the ultimate gathering place for everything from morning coffee and afternoon snacks to evening cocktails and dinner parties.
Unfortunately, a lot of kitchens don’t offer an environment that’s cohesive with your lifestyle. Nor do they bring the kind of look and feel that matches your home’s architecture.
Frankly, there’s a lot of funky kitchens out there.
So, is it possible to completely change your kitchen? Yes! To learn how, I spoke with our Lead Designer, Kelly Potter.
Stephanie: What’s one of the common issues you see homeowner’s face when it comes to their kitchens?
Kelly: A lot of kitchens are closed off from the rest of the house. This is especially true in older homes. The designs back included a lot of what we consider today, ‘strange architecture.’
Each room was really closed off from the next. This really decreases the visual square footage. Also, it can reduce the functional square footage.
Stephanie: How do you overcome these issues?
Kelly: We’re always looking for ways to open up spaces. In the case of the kitchen, this often means taking out a wall (or several) to include the cooking space with the rest of the home.
This sort of great room concept – combining the living area, dining area and kitchen – creates a really cohesive feel. Ultimately, we want to help you make a home where you can really enjoy spending time with friends and family. And, that’s what updating the kitchen in this way does.
Let’s talk about how to create a space you’ll love!
